I use this stat really just to give me a reason to focus in on our frontcourt. With C.J. Fair, Jerami Grant, Rakeem Christmas, DaJuan Coleman, and Baye Moussa Keita, we should have one of the best frontcourts in the country this season.
Don't believe me? Take a look at what some of the pundits are saying:
Dick Vitale has them at #2
College Basketball Talk has them at #3
Just where we wind up falling on the best frontcourt ranks at the end of the season will depend mostly on the big men. The wings are fairly set, you know what C.J. is going to give you and it's pretty safe to assume a breakout for Jerami Grant with his increased playing time and expanded role on the team.
What we don't know is what the big men will do. Does Rakeem Christmas finally take a leap and live up to the potential he had as an incoming freshman? Does DaJuan Coleman finally learn how to not spastically power dribble every time he touches the ball and actually develop as the low post threat we've lacked since Arinze Onuaku? Does Baye Moussa Keita take another step in his continued development from comical relief to competent starter?
With the inexperience and lack of depth in the backcourt, we will certainly need the frontcourt to step up in order to be a legitimate threat this year.
